Bjarki / Nieminen / Caeyers — Mathilde Caeyers

Bjarki / Nieminen / Caeyers is a nordic collaboration initiated by electronic music festivals Insomnia and Extreme Chill.

The collaboration is between techno musician Bjarki from Iceland, visual artist Arttu Nieminen from Finland and myself.

We were asked to create a commissioned piece that integrated and fused our expressions together, resulting in a musical and visual experience with several layers and dimensions.

The performance premiered in Harpa Contert Hall Reykjavik, Iceland during the Extreme Chill Festival in 2021. Shortly after it was also shown at the Insomnia festival in Tromsø, Norway.

All that can be said is that the collaboration was a success. Bjarki's aggressive and multifaceted electronic music matched Nieminens' cold and surreal world of art, interpreted by the very capable dancer that created another dimension to the piece. A great event that was appreciated by the crowd. The visual aspects of electronic music concerts are always important, and was something that stood out after the weekend.
